ABOUT US ABOUT US
Engineering trust. Building lasting partnerships.

AMAREA Technology originates from the Fraunhofer Institute for Ceramic Technologies and Systems IKTS in Dresden – Europe’s largest applied research institute for ceramics. There, our founders developed Multi Material Jetting (MMJ) in response to the limitations of conventional 3D printing processes when working with high-performance multi-material systems.

In 2017, our co-founder Steven successfully produced the world’s first multi-material 3D printed ceramic component – marking a technological milestone in ceramic additive manufacturing. What began as thermoplastic 3D printing evolved into a breakthrough platform for oxide ceramics and advanced material combinations, including stainless steel with zirconia. Through major research initiatives such as the EU project CerAMfacturing and several Fraunhofer-internal programs, MMJ matured into a technology capable of processing up to four materials within a single component, including functionalized systems such as borosilicate glass and near-net-shape tool blanks.

Building on this foundation, AMAREA Technology was officially founded in 2023. The company was launched with the trust and support of a private investor, Lithoz GmbH – the global market leader in ceramic 3D printing based in Vienna, Austria – and Sächsische Beteiligungsgesellschaft mbH (SBG). Their backing enabled the successful transfer of research into an industrial platform.

Today, the majority of company shares remain in the hands of the three founders, ensuring technological independence, entrepreneurial continuity, and a long-term strategic vision.
